PRONI Centre for social education/Youth Info Centre Vukovar on Wedenesday 12th of August with the variety of interesting activities in the city centre marked the International Youth Day. Except volunteers, in the activities was included a large number of young people from Vukovar, but also bystanders who could not resist a great atmosphere.

Guided by the theme of this year’s International Youth Day – “The active participation of young people in society”, all the activities of the Youth Info Centre Vukovar Advisory Board were focused on promoting social engagement of youth, youth empowerment and participation of young people in public and political life of their community.

We marked the International Youth Day through the educational and informative workshop which aims to introduce the general public about who are young people, with a special emphasis on the involvement of young people in the culture.

To get young people closer to the culture one of the activities of YIC was “Traveling Info Desk” which was informing young people about the possibilities for social inclusion and active participation in society and the possibilities of including in the culture of the area in which they live. We were also offering young people information about the National Youth Programme for the period from 2014 to 2017, and they were able to ask questions related to that topic.
In cooperation with the City Library Vukovar, we organized volunteer action at public space “Green Library”, where, our volunteers, with the help of other young people from Vukovar, cleaned of grass and planted new plants and refreshed wooden surfaces with protective coating for wood.

European House Vukovar has organized a traditional coffee with young people with the participation of the Youth Info Centre Vukovar Advisory Board members. The topics were varied but mostly the dialog was focused on the need for the City Youth Programe as a key for further work of NGOs dealing with young people.

Croatian Employment Service presented the project “Join the Job Club – a step forward in finding a job.” This project wishes to contribute to increasing the employment of young people through the establishment of Job Clubs in Vukovar – Srijem County.

Police in the community presented their work and approached their activities to young people and other citizens and answered on many questions. In this way, our wish is that citizens, especially young people sense that Police in the community is always available and at their service.

Also, the City of Vukovar through Youth City Council, presented their activities and future plans.

All the activities involved 30 volunteers, in which was given 500 promotional and informational materials, and was informed more than 100 young people.
