Looking at past on youth work development in Croatia, that means for PRONI Center 1999. Having in mind our students that successfully graduated on our two-years university program about youth work, and their wish for continuation of activities in their communities, PRONI Center developed idea for establishing Youth Clubs.
Together with the municipal representatives of east Croatia, and representatives of donor organization Norwegian People’s Aid (NPA) first Youth Clubs were reconstructed and ready for use. Youth workers were recruited, and with that act Youth Club Department within PRONI Center started officially to perform. First Youth Club was officially open in Sodolovci municipality at the end of 1999, than in Osijek, Vukovar, Laslovo and Dalj. As results were better and better and daily cooperation with municipal representatives stronger and stronger, 2001 we decided to establish 2 more clubs in Kozarac and Lovas, than 2 more in 2002 in Ernestinovo and Tompojevci municipality. In 2002 the image of PRONI Center increased, development took place as well as new projects were approved.

KMBrsadin1New contract with OSCE representatives in Croatia was signed, and main task of PRONI Center was to establish more clubs, to create network of clubs, as well as to establish cooperation and common programs with representatives of local government. Based on same principles, PRONI Center established in east Croatia 5 new Youth Clubs in Petrovci, Negoslavci, Brsadin, Darda and Donji Miholjac, and for the first time to spread its activities and open Youth Clubs in west Croatia in the cities of Glina and Sisak, as well as in south Croatia in Knin, Sibenik, Benkovac and Djevrske. In big machinery of 19 Youth Clubs, 31 Youth Workers led by Youth Club Coordinator and Youth Club Manager organized plenty of activities and workshops based on art, music, dance, creativity, informal education and debates, culture, sport and public happenings, and gather more than 1300 regular members with the membership cards that visit our Youth Clubs on daily bases. In meanwhile, all the time PRONI was fighting and lobby on National level for official recognition of Youth Clubs as important part in the local communities. Since, we succeeded during 2003, PRONI Center started with procedure of independence of our Youth Clubs, so that each club could equally apply for the state funds provided through the State Institute for Protection of Family, Maternity and Youth. The result was as follow: 13 Youth Clubs got state funds, 4 did not get state funds, but were continued to be financed by other sources, Youth Club Glina did not applied and Youth Club Benkovac stopped with the work. Today PRONI Center implement youth work activities through out whole Croatia. Those activities are mostly connected with the providing of necessary support for local initiatives that wants to establish Youth Clubs; providing of daily information to as much as possible Youth Clubs in Croatia; and lobbing on National level for higher standardization and quality of Youth work in general.
